Amala Raja

Elephants are not only a cultural icon in India and throughout Asia, they also help to maintain the integrity of their forest and grassland habitats. These incredibly intelligent and social giants are still considered to be a symbol of Rajput royalty today. We felt it only fitting that we celebrate these magnificent creatures in our Amala Raja print, where they wander amidst the lush serene jungle, with the Amber Fort subtly depicted in the background.

Since 1986, the Asian elephant has been listed as Endangered on the IUCN Red List. They are threatened by habitat loss, degradation, and fragmentation, as well as poaching. Approaches to conservation of this species focus on maintaining their remaining habitat, but more legislation is required to protect close to 2,500 Indian elephants that are still held in captivity.
